TIPS
GLASS ARTISTS AND EXHIBITS

The Studio at Corning Museum is celebrating its tenth anniversary with several activities. I recommend a visit to this beautiful Museum ( 4 hours from Manhattan by bus) to everyone interested in glass and crystal to know their collection of more than 2000 pieces. (www.cmog.org)

It is a great program for all ages, with torch demonstrations on how to create small glass objects, films, café, store with pieces of several artists, as well as a visit to the STEUBEN blow glass factory (their store is on 5th Ave. New York).

The excellent Rakow Art Library and The Studio, where I took several courses, are also open for visits. Their site is: thestudio@cmog.org.

As a curiosity, it was in this city that the PYREX glass was developed. The traditional Corningware factory for dishes is still in the region.

The city of Corning is in the middle of the Finger Lakes, which is the second most important wine region in the US and close to Canada (2 horas from Toronto, at the other side of Lake Ontario). It is definitely worth the detour if you are traveling in that region.
